He previously coached girls’ travel softball teams with ages ranging from 10 to 18 for 25 years from 1975-2000. His teams reached national tournaments in 14 of those years. Additionally, he has been a private pitching coach since 1975 with several of his students winning national, regional, state and district tournaments at all levels of play. As a varsity softball coach at two different high schools, Hunt guided both of his teams to the CIF playoffs while having many of his pupils move on to play collegiate softball.
Hunt is a 22-year retired combat veteran. He began playing in the men’s division of fastpitch softball at age 16. He split his time on the field between the pitcher’s mound, center field and behind the plate as a catcher. He pitched in numerous men’s national tournaments, finishing no lower than 10th place in any year. While in the military, Hunt pitched internationally, and because of his Cherokee/Choctaw heritage, he also pitched in two Native American Olympic games.

Assistant Coach Bridget McKay
Bridget McKay begins her first season as an assistant coach with the UC San Diego softball program in 2008. She has been as assistant coach at the collegiate level since 2001 and will assist the Tritons in all areas of coaching, including scheduling and recruiting.
McKay comes to the La Jolla campus after spending the last two seasons as an assistant softball coach, physical education instructor and game management worker at Olympic College in Bremerton, Washington. Prior to Olympic, she was an assistant coach at the NCAA Division I level with Charleston Southern University from 2003 to 2006 and with Norfold State University from 2002 to 2003. She began her collegiate coaching career at Spokane Falls Community College from 2001 to 2002.
As a player, McKay suited up for the Huskies of the University of Washington from 1992-95. She helped the Huskies a No. 10 National Ranking and two appearances in the NCAA Tournament, including a spot in the 1995 regional final. She was a co-captain of that '95 squad.
Following her graduation from the University of Washington in June of 1995 with a degree in Botany, she would work in the private sector until 2001 when she took a job at Gonzaga Preparatory School where she coached volleyball and basketball.
In addition to her undergraduate degree from UW, McKay also owns a Masters of Business Administration from Seattle University, which she earned in June of 2000.

Assistant Coach Sara Robinson
After spending the previous four years as a letter winning first baseman on the UCSD softball team, Sara Robinson begins her first season as an assistant coach for the Tritons in 2008. She was hired by head coach Patti Gerckens in the summer of 2007 and will assist with all aspects of the program. Additionally, she also works in the UC San Diego Athletics offices as an assistant, helping with special projects and adiministrative assignments in various departments.
During her playing days at UCSD, Robinson started in 66 of the 97 games she played in. She collected 29 hits in her career, eight of which were doubles, to go along with one triple, one home run and 19 runs batted in. In the field, she amassed a .989 fielding percentage, notching 430 putouts and 28 assists with only five errors in her four campaigns.
She graduated from UC San Diego in June of 2007 with a degree in Cognitive Science from Marshall College.
